February is here and LOVE is in the air! This month we dedicate our newsletter to the HEART! We want to share stories that are Heartfelt, stories that restore the Heart, and stories to heal broken Hearts.
Since February is American Heart Health Month for people, we thought it was only fitting to make February Dog Heart Health Month regarding heartworm disease.
Each year in America over 100,000 dogs are diagnosed with heartworms, and the numbers keep increasing each year. This number does not reflect the ones who have not been diagnosed. Heartworm is a serious and potentially fatal disease that affects pets across the United States, with the highest concentration of dogs living in and rescued from the South. A dog may appear healthy on the outside, but on the inside, heartworms may be living, thriving, and slowly killing your pet.
All dogs that come into our care at Glory Bound Rescue Ranch are tested for heartworm disease. If they test positive, we immediately begin heartworm treatment recommended by our veterinary partners. We are firm believers that a pet should not have to suffer or lose its life to this preventable disease.
The cost of treatment for each dog can range from $500-$1,000, which is one of the reasons pet owners give up their pets to high-kill shelters because they cannot afford the monthly preventatives and/or treatments.
To help save more lives, we want to raise awareness and educate our pet parents about prevention, treatment, and the dangers of this deadly parasite! To learn more about heartworm visit our Barnyard Blog, Heartworm, a silent and deadly killer.
Sadly, we have 6 rescued dogs in our care suffering from heartworm and there are many more like them coming to us every day! So to help their precious Hearts heal, we are hosting a fundraiser at Niko's Red Mill Tavern on February 11th, from 3PM-6PM to help raise awareness and funds to pay for our heartworm-positive dog's medical care. We invite you to join us! Meet our team, enter some great raffles, and learn more about heartworm prevention.
❤️ Things YOU Can Do For LOVE! ❤️
Sweetheart Deuce and dozens of Chows just like him were seized in a hoarding case in January of 2022. He was covered in feces and his fur was filthily and matted from years of neglect. With LOVE and TLC he has changed into a happy boy who will remain in our loving care at Glory Bound Sanctuary due to medical issues. For less than .33¢ per day, you can help us save more lives and give our sanctuary animals, like Deuce an even brighter future. Monthly giving is a great way to include Glory Bound donations in your budget. Become a monthly Hero today. It's easy and secure, and you can change or cancel your gift at any time.

❤️ FOSTERS NEEDED ❤️
Can you open your home and your HEART and your home to two sweet old gals?
Riley a 9-year-old German Shepherd/Collie and Sheila a 14-year-old Irish Wolfhound mix. Both are from a hoarding situation. They were so matted and dirty from years of neglect, that the shelter felt sorry for them and cleaned them up. Despite their new look, no one was interested in saving them and they were to be euthanized. This broke our hearts and we could not let them die!
They need a soft place to land, together if possible. Let's show them what LOVE is all about!
If you are interested in Fostering please fill out a foster application today!
